Pastor Garry initially served as the senior pastor of the Evangelical Baptist Church of Coupon, east of Port-au-Prince, Haiti, on the Double Harvest missionary compound near Croix-des-Bouquets. At the same time, he also served as the Director of The Bible Institute of Croix des Bouquets. However, due to the increasing gang violence in the country, and learning that he was himself a target of a local gang, likely to soon be kidnapped, he chose to leave Haiti with his wife Lucette and their two boys and relocate to the city of Santiago in the neighboring Dominican Republic. From there, he has since worked both remotely with the Haitian works, as well as assisting a Haitian Pastor Smith with his own local church and Bible institute.
One of Pastor Garry’s passions is to train pastors and lay leaders for leadership positions in the local church. As part of this overall vision, Pastor Garry continues to host various seminars, facilitate trainings, some put on by visiting teams from The U.S. He also works extensively as both an author and translator of various written works on relevant Christian topics, along with laboring to create podcasts that have been a great encouragement and help to clergy and lay people, alike. It may be interesting for you to know that Pastor Garry is the son-in-law of Pastor Lucien Jean Marie, (Also listed on this page).
As a couple, Garry and his wife Lucette also work with and provide Christian counseling for both engaged and married couples. In fact, Garry learned his basic English by listening to hours of “Focus on the Family” programs, with Dr. James Dobson. The name of their ministry to families through many local churches is called “En Famille”. Garry is also an ardent student and teacher of expository preaching, a style so often lacking in the pulpits in Haiti and The D.R.
We have known these two for many years. In fact, Garry and Lucette met each other at one of our early youth camps. We fully recommend Gary and Lucette for your consideration of monthly support to help them meet various needs as they faithfully minister in their “Jerusalem”, in spite of that location changing over the years. With the view of Haitian immigrants growing less and less favorable in The D.R., with many forced deportations back to Haiti, Pastor Garry and Lucette have been fervently praying and working to know God’s will for their future, location, and direction. Please feel free to contact us for any details.
Special Note: Pastor Garry and Lucette’s En Famille ministry to families has become very popular and grown in demand. This has put them in the difficult position of having to turn down requests and opportunities to minister, due to insufficient funding for these seminars. If you feel led to do so, please contact Janice and me to help sponsor an En Famille event.
